Short story – Questions
When did you find out the Rudi Mattmüller Educational Grant was available? What was your motivation to write an application?
I learned about the Rudi Mattmüller grant from the ISIN website and decided to apply because I believed it was a unique opportunity to attend some of the world’s top centers for intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, allowing me to expand my knowledge, especially from a practical view.
What are your plans? Which hospitals are you planning to visit and when will you be travelling?
My plan is to develop my expertise in neuromonitoring for neurosurgery (including cranial base surgeries, supratentorial, spinal pathologies and peripheral nerve procedures), as well as to acquire foundational knowledge in the application of neuromonitoring for vascular and orthopedic surgeries. I plan to complete a 5-week internship at each of the following centers:
What are your expectations?
I think this experience will allow me to learn the technical “tricks” of IONM and the mental approaches that cannot be learnt by textbooks or scientific articles. Moreover, I want to observe how top centers approach scientific research and innovation, gaining insight into the application of new techniques to clinical practice.
Anything else you would like to share?
I also think that this opportunity will allow me to grow on a human and personal level by experiencing different cultures and meeting people from other countries.
